Sign-ups to organize a V-Day 2008 campaign are open!

Eve's agreements with commercial entities has enabled her to generously allow FREE benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues, A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and a Prayer, and Until the Violence Stops during the months of January, February and March, which in turn has enabled millions of dollars to be raised within communities to fund local groups that work to end violence against women and girls. We therefore ask that these few restrictions are adhered to in order that Eve and V-Day uphold agreements made with the commercial ventures related to these pieces.

In order to sign up to participate in the V-Day 2008 Campaign, you must read and agree to abide by the following guidelines that govern the project.
Most Important:
  • Under NO circumstances may any person or school present a V-Day Campaign event without registering their event directly with V-Day each and every year.
  • V-Day explicitly states that its mission is to end rape, incest, battery, female genital mutilation and sexual slavery. By producing a V-Day event you hereby agree that these issues are valid and you accept responsibility to raise awareness about them.
  • Information about V-Day, its mission, its goals and its achievements must be presented in some form at all V-Day events.

  • All new for 2008 Anniversary:
  • You agree to host one of the following options (we would love for you to present as many as you would like. You can always add more later in the year too!

    The Vagina Monologues

    A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer

    Until The Violence Stops

  • You agree to adhere to the guidelines, scripts and materials for each of the presentations. Failure to do so will result in our rescinding your permission to host a V-Day event.
  • You are permitted to have no more than 2 performances of each of the presentations.
  • You must use the V-Day version of The Vagina Monologues which will be made available to you on the V-Spot. Absolutely no edits or alterations may be made AT ALL. You may not use excerpts of the play in advertising or preliminary events.

  • If you would like to present The Vagina Monologues in a language other than English, you must get the translated script from V-Day and you must acknowledge the translator of your script in your production program. There are downloadable versions of Spanish, French and German available at the V-Spot. You may contact world at v-day for any other languages.

  • Performance Dates:
  • Your 2008 V-Day Campaign events must take place between January 1 and March 31, 2008 unless your school holiday schedule does not allow for this time frame (international schools that are on vacation during our campaign season). If this is the case, please contact us at campaign at vday for special allowance.

  • If you are outside of the United States, especially if you are in the United Kingdom or France, you might be required to present your V-Day production on dates other than those in the V-Day performance period (January 1 through March 31, 2008). We will let you know if this is true for your production. If you have any questions please contact us at campaign at vday.

  • Money:
  • We do ask that you sell tickets to your V-Day event. Admission to your event via suggested contribution or donation is permitted if your school will not allow direct ticket sales or if you feel your community cannot afford tickets. (Remember, we are trying to raise awareness and money to stop violence against women and girls.)

  • Please donate 10% of the net profits from the overall fundraising efforts from your event’s to V-Day for the V-Day 2008 Spotlight: Women of New Orleans.

  • Performers should not be paid for their participation in any V-Day production. The only people who can be compensated for their work are technical staff who belong to a Union, or independently hired Production Managers or Directors.

  • Keep production costs to a minimum. We are very proud that V-Day spends 6% on administrative and overhead expenses and 94% of the funds we raise go toward our programs and awards to organizations around the world that are fighting violence against women. We hope you will strive to do the same.
  • There is NO CHARGE to host a V-Day Campaign.

  • Organizing and Casting:
  • Only one person can be the official organizer for each 2008 V-Day Campaign event. Lots of people can and should be involved in your production but only one person can be the liaison between your event and the Directors of the Campaign.
  • You must have an active e-mail address that you can be reached at throughout the course of the Campaign that you are willing to let V-Day use publicly to promote your event.
  • Strive for diversity. Reach out, not only to people of both sexes, but also to people of all backgrounds and ethnicities. V-Day is about inclusion and community, about bringing people together to achieve its goals. Please incorporate this objective into your production.
  • V-Day requires that you must involve every single person who seeks to be involved, whether in the cast, crew or production team.

  • Event Venue:
  • In the sign up process you are asked to identify yourself as being from a College/University, city or high school so that we may delineate between events. Your venue must coincide with what you have chosen. If you are a college student or administrator and have signed up as such, your event must take place on a college campus. If you are a community member, your event must be in a community space and if you are a high school student or administrator, your event must take place in a high school. If for any reason you need to switch during the campaign year, please just let us know at campaign at vday.

  • Publicity and Follow-up:
  • In promoting and publicizing your V-Day Campaign production, you must adhere to the "Identity Guidelines" and other publicity guidelines included on the V-Spot.
  • You must fill out an online Follow-up Report within 30 days of completion of your V-Day Campaign production. If we do not receive a follow-up Report, you will not be permitted to participate the following year.

  • Failure to adhere to these rules will result in V-Day's rescinding permission for you to present a V-Day event in the future.

You will see these guidelines again during your sign-up process. Once you sign up and are approved, you will have access to the V-Spot and all organizer materials. Please visit often and chat with your fellow organizers on the V-Boards.
