Sri Yasodara Orphanage, Sri Lanka
Sri Yasodara Orphanage in Sri Lanka is a home for girls who have lost their parents to the country's bitter civil war or the extreme poverty it has created. The orphanage is run by Loku Maniyo, a Buddhist nun, who offers love and shelter to over 80 girls from mixed backgrounds and both sides of the war.

WEDPRO, The Philippines
The Women’s Education, Development and Productivity, Research and Advocacy Organization (WEDPRO), Inc., is a feminist organization committed to assist women victims of violence and all forms of sexual exploitation and to proactively end of all forms of gender-based violence. Since 2003, WEDPRO has maintained the Anti-VAW (Violence Against Women) Fund, which came principally from the proceeds of the STOP RAPE! STOP VAW! commemorative postal envelopes and wire sculptures. The commemorative envelope and logo were the winning entry in the International Stop Rape Contest organized by V-Day and Equality Now.

Women’s Refugee Community in Zambia (WORECZ), Zambia
WORECZ reports that immigrant and refugee women are particularly vulnerable to domestic violence since language barriers and fear of immigration authorities often prevent these women from seeking assistance from police or victim advocates. Cultural factors may also discourage them from asserting their legal rights. For some undocumented female immigrants, maintaining the relationship with their abuser is sometimes the only way they avoid deportation and remain in Zambia.
