V-Day awards are designed to enfranchise and empower local groups all over the globe -- from Afghanistan to Zambia -- who are fighting to end the violence against women and girls.
V-Day does not accept grant applications. Rather, we award groups that do outstanding work on the front lines of ending violence.
V-Day awards support the fight against violence in two ways:
V-Day Awards ("Direct Awards")
V-Day makes direct awards, nationally and internationally, to groups who are on the front lines of ending violence against women and girls. V-Day made 146 direct awards this year in 19 countries. Awardees include Equality Now, V-Day’s Safe House for Girls in Kenya, the Revolutionary Afghan Women’s Association (RAWA), and the winners of the International Stop Rape Contest.
V-Day direct awards supported beneficiaries of the major V-Day fund raising events – Hammerstein, Harlem, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., London, Tucson and Rapid City. Through the National Tour of "The Vagina Monologues" we reached beneficiaries in 45 cities in the United States and Canada.

V-Day College Campaign and Worldwide Campaign Awards ("Indirect Awards")
The V-Day 2007 Worldwide and College Campaign events raised funds for over 1,000 organizations fighting violence against women and girls all over the globe. Funds raised by these events do not flow through V-Day but stay in the communities where the events occur. This model helps create a local base of support for anti-violence groups while building coalitions through the local volunteer organizers. In 2007, V-Day events were held in 391 cities and 695 schools.
