V-Day Salutes Its 2004 Corporate Sponsors, Launches Online Store
May 11, 2004 - New York, NY - V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls, salutes its 2004 corporate sponsors - Barneys New York, Bobbi Brown, Dramatist Play Service, Eileen Fisher, Fairmont Hotels And Resorts, Hearst, Lifetime Television, Luna, Marie Claire, Tampax, Time Inc. and Vosges Haut Chocolate - for their generous contributions to V-Day and the ongoing efforts to end violence against women and girls. Thanks to their creative and financial contributions alongside the many inspired V-Day activists, V-Day 2004 was V-Day's biggest season to date with over 2300 V-Day benefits taking place in over 1100 communities worldwide February - March 2004.

Also today, V-Day announced the launch of its first online store - http://www.vday.org/store. Created in conjunction with Object, the V-Day store features a selection of merchandise with the V-Day logo and messaging including "Vagina Warrior" T-shirts and caps as well as links to products from corporate sponsors which benefit the movement.
In addition to financial contributions, each V-Day corporate sponsor works to advance V-Day's mission to raise awareness and funds to end violence against women and girls. Following are some examples:
Barneys New York: On February 5, 2004, BARNEYS and V-Day kicked off their new partnership with V-Day NYC 2004, a fabulous fundraiser at Barneys New York honoring actress/activist Jane Fonda for her philanthropy and support of the movement. This is the first year that V-Day's annual NYC fundraiser was held in Barneys New York flagship Madison Ave. store, hosted by Barneys New York CEO Howard Socol and V-Day Founder/Playwright Eve Ensler.
To kick off the celebration, from February 3-17, windows by BARNEYS NEW YORK Creative Director Simon Doonan celebrated V-Day and women around the word with a tribute to blondes, brunettes, and redheads.
Bobbi Brown: Makeup artist and CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, has created the V-Day Lip Palette in support of V-Day. "My mission is to empower women and help them find a voice," said Bobbi Brown. Bobbi Brown V-Day Palette is available at Saks Fifth Avenue and www.bobbibrown.com/vday
Dramatist Play Service: For the second year in a row, Dramatist Play Service has underwritten the cost of the script of "The Vagina Monologues" for V-Day benefit productions.
EILEEN FISHER: Eileen Fisher sponsored the V-Day 2002 launch party at Barneys New York and accompanying window display. In 2003, Eileen Fisher launched V-Day windows for Valentine's Day in its stores throughout the U.S. This year, the company is supporting V-Day's first voter education and get out the vote campaign, V Is For Vote, and is continuing its financial support of the organization.
Fairmont Hotels And Resorts: V-Day's home away from home, Fairmont provides ongoing support for V-travel and events in their properties around the world.
Hearst: One of V-Day longest running corporate sponsors, Hearst magazines including Marie Claire, Redbook, Seventeen, Good Housekeeping and ComsoGirl have featured the V-Day PSAs throughout the year.
Lifetime Television: On February 17, 2004, Lifetime Television aired the commercial free television premiere of "Until The Violence Stops," the first documentary about V-Day. "Until the Violence Stops" is a one-hour documentary that follows the grassroots impact of V-Day in five international communities while exposing the pervasive and cultural forms of violence that women experience all over the world. Featuring appearances by Tantoo Cardinal, Rosario Dawson, Eve Ensler, Jane Fonda, LisaGay Hamilton, Salma Hayek, Rosie Perez, and Isabella Rossellini among others.
As an additional gift, Lifetime sponsored the annual "Thank you" kit that is sent to the more than 1100 V-Day organizers in the US and around the world.
LUNA Bar: In addition to generous financial support, LUNA Bar supports local V-Day events with product, hosted its very own V-Day event in Berkely, CA, and supported the premiere party for UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. LUNA has underwritten the production of V-Day's "Vagina Warrior" T-shirts so that all of the proceeds from each T-shirt purchase will go directly to V-Day.
Marie Claire: V-Day Founder/Playwright Eve Ensler's essay on the missing and murdered women of Ciudad Juarez entitled "The City Of Murdered Women" appears in the March issue of Marie Claire magazine. In the April issue, the magazine featured a promotional offer of necklaces hand crafted by Aghan women in Khandahar.
Tampax: For four years Tampax has been a very generous financial contributor to V-Day. On February 17, 2004, immediately following the television premiere of "Until the Violence Stops," Tampax invited the world to meet Eve Ensler live online through a free webcast at http://www.tampax.com. Eve talked about what it means to be a "vagina warrior," shared stories of the amazing women and girls who make up V-Day, and answered questions.
Time Inc.: Time, Inc magazines including the flagship TIME magazine have featured V-Day PSA's throughout the year.
Vosges Haut Chocolate: Since 2001, Vosges Haut-Chocolat has been helping to stop the violence with their delicious and exotic truffles. For 2004, Vosges Haut Chocolat has joined with V-Day to place a spotlight on the plight of the women in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico where in the past decade over 300 women and girls have been killed or disappeared in Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas. This year, 10% of the profits of their new Aztec collection of Mexican vanilla bean, ancho chili, ceylon cinnamon and dulce de leche truffles were donated V-Day's efforts to help the women of Juarez.
