Eve Ensler's 20-City Nationwide Speaking Tour "V TO THE TENTH: THE ROAD TO NEW ORLEANS" Starts TODAY

Friday, February 1st, Eve will begin her 20-city nationwide speaking tour "V TO THE TENTH, THE ROAD TO NEW ORLEANS," inviting all along the route to join V-Day for V TO THE TENTH at the New Orleans Arena and Louisiana Superdome.

February - March, starting today at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and moving through Michigan, California, Alabama and more, Ensler will travel the country speaking with local women and men about the history of the V-Day movement, including the 2008 V-Day Spotlight on the Women of New Orleans and the Gulf South and V-Day?s upcoming Anniversary events in New Orleans.

NEW V-Men Column by Jimmie Briggs

The V-Men Column, curated by Mark Matousek is a space for men to write about violence against women and girls from the perspective of fathers, brothers, husbands, boyfriends and friends. In this second piece featured on the V-Men column, "Why I Go," Jimmie Briggs, a New York-based writer, teacher and freelance journalist writes a letter to his daughter telling her why he leaves to cover stories of violence around the world.

"...I have written and re-written this letter since the day you were born because I knew that your arrival would change my world. Knowing that you are at home waiting for me, I'm sobered each time I board an airplane bound for a war zone. As someone drawn to crisis, I constantly face compromises over how long to stay in a dangerous place, what degree of personal risks are acceptable..."
