Writer, poet, and producer, Carole Bebelle has spent nearly 20 years as an administrator and planner of education, social, and health programs. Carole is the cofounder of the Ashé Cultural Arts Center in New Orleans.
In the past three years, together Ashé and V-Day have convened a group of 15 local artists to create and produce an original theater piece, Swimming Upstream. This piece will serve as an artistic record of the experiences of New Orleanians during and after the flood and will have its world premier during V TO THE TENTH in New Orleans, April, 2008 (details to be announced).
