VOTE for VOICES, an anthem award finalist

VOICES: a sacred sisterscape has been chosen as a Finalist for the 6th Annual Anthem Awards in the Belonging & Inclusion category as General Social. VOICES was one of the highest scoring projects across the 2,500+ entries submitted from around the world.

Spearheaded by Grammy nominated poet aja monet (V-Day Voices Artistic Creative Director), VOICES: a sacred sisterscape is an interdisciplinary art project and audio play of stories written by, narrated by, and centering Black women across the diaspora. Born from over 900 submissions collected over two years, VOICES premiered to sold-out crowds in Accra, Atlanta, and at the historic Apollo Theater before its worldwide digital release.

Now, VOICES is up for a Gold, Silver or Bronze Anthem Award, and an Anthem Community Voice Award, and we need your help!

You can vote through Thursday, October 29 at 11:59 pm PT HERE.

EXPERIENCE VOICES
“One of the most radical things we can do at this time is to listen, to compassionately listen and to be more involved in how we show up after we have listened.” – aja monet

We invite you to take a moment to pause and listen today. The audio play is streaming on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple, Audible, Amazon, and public libraries via Overdrive. Listen HERE.

JOIN THE VOICES BOOK CLUB
VOICES book club is coming back! In 2021, we gathered to read bell hooks’ groundbreaking The Will to Change, using it to unpack and unlearn how patriarchy has harmed all of us across the gender spectrum. We think it’s about time we read it together again, and we invite men everywhere who are committed to examining patriarchy in their own lives to join us.

BRING VOICES to your community
By hosting a listening exhibition, you are creating a space for transformative listening, amplifying resistance, and embodying solidarity with Black women across the diaspora, whether in a lecture hall, a place of worship, a living room, or around a kitchen table. Download the VOICES Production Toolkit, a complete guide to hosting your own listening exhibition, and fill out our host form to get started.

We believe listening is a radical act, and that Black women’s stories can call forth a new world where solidarity is the natural order and women are free from harm.

Please help us uplift VOICES and share everywhere.
