V-Day, One Billion Rising and the CNAM “Humanities and Health” chair in partnership with Make.org, Aurore Association and Plateau Urbain present “Rencontres One Billion Rising – Les femmes sur le front du Covid : en première ligne face aux violences et à l’avant-garde des transformations” (One Billion Rising Meetings – Women on the frontlines of Covid: at the forefront of violence and of transformation), hosted by V (formerly Eve Ensler) and Cynthia Fleury. NOTE: This event will be entirely in French.
In January 2020, V (formerly Eve Ensler), author of The Vagina Monologues and founder of V-Day, and Cynthia Fleury, philosopher, Chair of ‘Humanity and Health’ of CNAM (National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts), organized the first edition of ‘Les Rencontres pour la Lutte Contre les Féminicides et les Violences Sexistes – Meetings to Fight Femicide and Gender-Based Violence’.
On Thursday, the second edition of Rencontres will bring together women who are on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic: workers, survivors, academics, artists and politicians, who create social bonds and common goods in the service of all. Women who call on us today more than ever to reclaim our bodies and fully reinvest in private and public spaces as places of struggle, creation and transformation. “Rencontres One Billion Rising – Les femmes sur le front du Covid : en première ligne face aux violences et à l’avant-garde des transformations” joins the One Billion Rising international campaign and wants to once again offer a space for sharing for women who, through their texts, their words and their actions, participate in feminist struggles in France. An event thought to be joyful, restorative, a source of power to create and encourage each other.”
