Dearest friends,
As the year draws to a close, we are filled with gratitude for the survivors, artists, activists, friends, and supporters who make the V-Day movement possible.
V-Day has unleashed vast grassroots, anti-violence work on college campuses and in communities – visionary work that has been survivor-led and focused, all the while revealing the power of art and activism to change culture and systems. Spanning over 200 countries, the movement has organically spread through word of mouth, the ingenuity of activists and a collective desire to build communities that upend intractable injustices. And across the globe it has helped to build a network of grassroots activists engaged in hands-on social justice projects and communities of women who are rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of violence.
In 2023, V-Day will mark its 25th year. As we write, Voices, One Billion Rising, & City of Joy activists are planning artistic uprisings, pushing boundaries and engaging in dialogue to thrust forward the most innovative and creative solutions to challenges on the ground, with art and activism at the forefront.
V-Day’s founder/playwright and author V (formerly Eve Ensler) will release her newest book Reckoning, the work of a lifetime — political, personal, profound, and more than forty years in the making and reflecting the core of ideas at the heart of our work.
