As a movement working to END VIOLENCE against women, girls, gender expansive people and the Earth, we oppose violence committed by ANYONE.   We do not believe violence is the solution in Israel or Palestine or ANYWHERE.   For violence to end, to preserve lives, we must return to the historical roots of oppression. The violence of decades of occupation, of apartheid, of dispossession.  The violence of the denial of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people to be free – the freedom to move, learn, dream, travel, play, thrive, hope, aspire, live. Equally, and with dignity and peace. Like many groups and individuals around...

RAWA relief team in the earthquake affected areas of Herat On October 7, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale shook several districts of Heratو the Western province in Afghanistan. These villages belonged to the poorest and most destitute farmers, daily waged workers, and displaced families who had settled in these deserts and built mud-houses with empty hands and a lot of suffering and hardship. The reason for the irreparable damage is that most of these houses were made of mud without standards and were weak against earthquakes, so in the blink of an eye, a large...

25 May is our visionary Founder V (formerly Eve Ensler)'s 70th birthday! To celebrate this milestone, and to commemorate 25 years of V-Day – the movement that she launched with her pathbreaking play The Vagina Monologues – we are raising funds for V-Day’s ongoing work across the world. It is nearly impossible to summarize the vast impact that V has had on this movement, the communities in which it lives and the culture at large. V has inspired countless individuals to become life-long activists working to end violence in all of its forms. She has helped grassroots leaders get the spotlight they...

We RISE for Mother Earth On Earth Day and every day we RISE for Climate Justice & Mother Earth. We amplify the connections between the exploitation of women and the exploitation of the earth. The global climate crisis impacts communities around the world. Women and girls suffer the most in terms of long term loss of livelihood, forced migration, trafficking and other climate related conflicts. Indigenous populations everywhere have suffered gravely – displaced and forced to flee and relocate – making them the world’s first climate refugees. This Earth Day, we renew our call for justice against the aggressive greed and global...

(Reposted from onebillionrising.org) I have “risen” for/with V-Day and OBR for the past decade. This year feels different. It is different. Maybe it is because I live in the US where women have lost the right to abortion that we had for the past 50 years. But maybe it is also because of the visibility of the “woman-led revolution” in Iran, and the Ukrainian women snipers, and the women activists in Chile and Brazil. We can see women demanding democracy even if there are endless attempts to make us invisible. As democracy, in whatever fashion and incompleteness it exists, is under...
